Gi614 : Roses - Cadaques

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
April 28, 2007 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

This is a great area that attracts a lot of visitors, even in April when we visited. Expect lots of cars and camper vans jostling for tarmac with plenty of bikes. It's an okay road until you enter Parc Natural de Cap De Creus where it really comes into it's own. It climbs through the hillside and will have you thinking you're heading inland instead of towards the coast. The surface is brilliant with loads of flowing bends and enough straights to get you past the tourists on the way up to the top of this coastal delight. It's more of the same as you wind down the other side towards the Whitewashed Cadaques which of course is famous for Salvador Dali. It's a favourite for many painters and you can see why as you breath in the sea air whilst enjoying the surroundings. Cadaques is well worth a stroll around but we didn't have time to explore. There were more pressing matters to deal with, like the return journey. The photo's really don't do it justice and I should have taken lots more. Maybe next time. Enjoy.

N247 : Cascais - Cabo da Roca

Central Portugal > Portugal > Europe
March 2, 2006 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.2

Turn right outside Hotel Baia and head towards Guincho keeping to the Coastal road. Great road with Ocean on your left heading towards Guincho beach. Surface is good, with fast sweeping corners. Once you have passed the beach you enter a woody section which begins your ascent to village called Malveria da Serra surface is good but corners are tighter. As you enter village turn left and follow signs to Cabo da Roca. This section continues rising and as you leave the village the views are fantastic and the road has some great turns where you can put you sliders to good use if you dare! The local bikers all come out along this section to Cabo da Roca every Sunday morning and on sunny days in the summer kids line the road to watch all the bikes. After a few miles watch for left turn on a corner, caution! Proceed into Azoia village (avoid restaurants here as are tourist traps) then follow signs to Cabo da Roca which is the most Westernly point of mainland Europe for a coffee at the bar/restaurant. During the summer can be very busy at weekends so midweek morning best time to go as it is cooler too.

South East England and Lo... > United Kingdom > Europe

A-4130 : Lanjaron - Trevelez

Andalucia > Spain > Europe
January 13, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

A trip to the highest village in Spain. Can be quite slow going due to the number of bends (and convoys of German motorhomes!), but worth it for the scenery!

A369 : Gaucín - Ronda

Andalucia > Spain > Europe
March 26, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

This route starts off a bit narrow at the A7 End on the coast (mostly solid white lines and armcos with not much run off), but the A369 gradually builds into a great twisting frenzy of open corners and mostly good road surface, that really gets you moving and is thoroughly recommended. Not much other traffic around and some great mountain views in places. You can really move on this stretch.
