OU-533 : A Gudina - A Rua

Galicia > Spain > Europe
May 30, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.7

A partly recently surfaced road snaking through beautiful countryside over hills and through valleys. Nice and wide with fast sweeping bends with very little traffic. This road encourages fast riding and is a must for anyone visiting the area. 4 of us hit this road in May 2008 after coming through the narrow mountainous roads in northern Portugal and if we werent on tight schedule rest assured wed have gone back and done it all again ENJOY!!!!!!!!

Fantastic ride into the Highlands that really shows the best side of biking in Scotland. A great selection of corners, brilliant landscape and some wonderful nature. There can be some animals near the road, but visibility is mostly very open, so they pose little threat. There was no Police presence at all when I was last there, but this may have changed as I saw this road mentioned in a major UK motorbike magazine article recently.

A good combination of some nice bends and straights with fairly good visibility and the added bonus of a very limited police presence in my experience.

N621 : San Vicente de la Barquera - Riaño

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
August 13, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

Starting from San Vicente take the N634 before turning off onto the N621 to Unquera. Starts off a nice low level road with sweping bends & scenery before it starts to climb into the Picos de europa Mountains. A fantastci run along a mountain gorge with tight bend after tight bend before the road calms down a bit as you approach Potes. As you leve Potes the road gets a little narrower and realy starts to get intersting as you start to climb up to the summit at Puerto de San Glorio at 1609m - there is view after view of fantastic mountain scenery and more bends than you can shake a stick at. As you begin to drop down towards Riano the road surface changes for the better and the road is slightly wider, rewarding you with faster sweeping bends and a few good straights until you arrive at Riano which is surrounded by lakes... there is a service station at the entrance to the village with the best view I've ever had whilst fulelling and a great little Cantina just behind the service station to refuel the rider.

A714 : Newton Stewart - Girvan

South Scotland > United Kingdom > Europe
October 12, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.7

This road has something for everyone. At the Newton Stewart end there are some pretty fast straights and nice sweeping bends. Watch out for deer on this stretch though. Pleasantly wooded run at the side of the River Cree. Road surface here is good but watch out for slippy areas particularly just after a storm. After Bargrennan the road starts to climb and the scenery changes. The road surface also changes and there are quite a few bumps and holes. Approaching Barhill the roads gets twistier. A mixture of fast straights and twisty sections awaits now as you travel towards Girvan and beware of gravel on the corners which is sometimes washed into the road. Approaching Girvan you will have a cracking view of Ailsa Craig on a good day but take care, the route down into Girvan is twisty and demanding. Come back by the A77 Girvan - Stranraer route or head back to Newton Stewart for a different perspective. If you travel this route from Girvan link up with the A712 Newton Stewart- Crocketford route and make a day of it.
