Avoiding Interstate 5 Southbound from Tacoma to Vancouver Nice peaceful windy curvy country road ...lovely views with a good stop Alder Lake Elbe has a nice Caboose restaurant with rooms in boxcars for overnighting. Food was surprisingly terrific with attentive service. Suggest the Elk burger...outstanding!
The Hoons ride to the coast and back for lunch. A few Roads are pretty bumpy and ruff. There is a section of about 5/8 of a mile that is gravel. But very do-able on even sports bikes. The Scooner in Netarts is a great place to grab food for lunch or dinner. All in all a very fun ride that has great twisty bits.
Once you leave Seneca and get on NF 16 until John Day Hwy it is very remote. We traveled it all day and never saw another vehicle. You can see lots of wildlife. Last 7 miles on NF 16 (E. Camp Creek Rd, near Unity) is good graded gravel, rest of route is all paved. Watch out for livestock and deer on roads. On US 26 you will experience more traffic. Lots of camping opportunities.
