A fun couple of hours in and around Calgary, Alberta. Start and end at Foothills Medical Centre, uptown 17th (popular for motorcyclists), Inglewood, Ogden with minimal traffic lights, south to Quarry Park/Douglas Glen, east to Shepherd where the roads open up, and to Chestermere from the south (enjoy views of the lake), back to Calgary via International Avenue (17th SE), to Mission, Eau Claire, Kensington, and back to Foothills Medical Centre. A nice mix of seeing people enjoy the patios, minimal traffic lights in the SE, secondary highways, resort-like living spaces, and all kinds of shops and restaurants. No worries about fuel either!
Had a terrific 8 day road trip with the wife in the throne of my 2015 Honda Goldwing. Calgary > Kamloops > Mt Vernon > Astoria > Portland x 2 > Yakima > Whitefish > Calgary. Used the Port Townsend Ferry. Spectacular views, roads generally excellent except the National Forrest 25 and 99 (Mount St Helens area) which had rough sections (35-50 km/hr at times) but I'd do that again. Willamette Valley wine region was nice. A couple nights in Portand to rest and enjoy was a good idea. Shout out to Spin Laundry Lounge in Portland for friendly unique experience. Mount St Helens well worth the time. Mount Rainier cloudy so check weather before going to visitor centre. Longest day 750 km; shortest day 300 km. Fire prevented Going to the Sun highway on last day so went through Eureka and AB 22 to get home. Happy to answer questions. JPS
