N202 Barreme - Le Plan-du-Var ( off the route napoleon )

Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Az... > France > Europe
June 12, 2007 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

An excellent alternative to the Route Napoleon, I think its actually better. Little traffic, some fabulous corners and a mix of hills and valleys. Just over 50 miles with hardly a town in sight, my favourite bit is a stretch through a valley with perfect road surface, long constant radius corners and no junctions, biking heaven. Have a go, then have a rest at the end to let your tyres cool down!!

Beuil D30/ Saint Sauveur Sur Tinee M30

Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Az... > France > Europe

Do a break after the Gorges du Cians D28 in Beuil. There's a very nice coffee shop there for a snack with a nice scenery around. Take the D30 towards Roubion. Nice and curvy mountain road in great condition with a good scenery around. After roubion the D30 changes to M30, quite scenic, narrow, and loads of bends, quite steep in some points until Saint Sauveur Sur Tinee. overall it is a great and picturesque route. Quite fun to do as well.

D2202 / Col de la Cayolle : Barcelonnette - Guillaumes

Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Az... > France > Europe
April 11, 2012 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.3

A high, remote, wild, narrow, slippery pass through the Parc Mercantour that is great fun! Little traffic, lots of scenery, lots of entertainment. In places it feels like a paved motocross track! Don't screw up!

The scenery is grand, an there is a delightful restaurant above Entraunes that is worth a stop, even if only for a coffee.

At the northern end is the town of Barcelonette, a very sporty town with a strong Mexican (yes, that's right) flavor. Nice inns and restaurants and lots to do. Also with quick access to the Col d'Allos, Col de Vars, and the Col de la Bonette.
