The Na-140 Pt1 Spanish Pyrenees

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
November 1, 2014 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

Really nice stretch of road that you can have a good time riding. Not many elevation changes but it's constantly flowing left and right. Best ridden with lots of friends :)

The Na-137 North from Isaba

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
September 28, 2014 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

From Isaba turn North and head for the Col de la Pierre Saint-Martin. This is a nice fast as you dare section along the valley floor. It's not totally open however so it'd be prudent to just cruise it rather than race along it. There's also a strong crosswind in places which has bent the bushes and trees over so i'm guessing it's regularly windy here. No traffic to speak of, and a great climb awaits you at the end of this stretch that takes you over the border via a 300 degree right hander. I kid you not :)

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe

The road before this video is far nicer coming over the border from France and then a lovely open mountain section. Still very enjoyable though but only got this bit on video.

B4520 : Brecon - Builth Wells

Mid Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
September 18, 2009 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.5

I just love this road. Very challenging and quite dangerous in places but very good fun and is fast becoming a regular of mine. Leave the town of Brecon and follow the signs for Upper Chapel. Lots of twists and turns with some tightening radius corners to keep you focused. A few crests and blind corners, some contaminated surfaces and kamikaze sheep on the open top section. Well worth riding in both directions. Love it.

The Gi-681 from Llagostera to Tossa De Mar

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
February 12, 2012 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

This is quite possibly my favourite road of all time simply because of the surface. It almost like riding on sandpaper and had me dragging my toes and pegs on both sides for the first time on my current bike. You can practically see the grip and it fills you with confidence. Knee down at a steady 40 or 50 mph is no problem on it's flowing, constant radius left and rights. I've always loved the Gi-682 that goes from Tossa de Mar to San Feliu, but not any more. This road, and a few others i've now discovered in the Pyrenees are much better in my opinion. You'll love it if you try it :)

L401 : Berga - Organya ( to the C14 )

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
April 19, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

Ok boys and girls, Here's a beautiful 50 mile stretch that runs Westward from Berga on the C16 to the C14. Forgive me for this review being a bit long winded and sketchy as I'm working from memory. A bit of a strange one this as the road changes names three times but I don't know why. It starts as the Bv4241, changes to the Lv4241and then ends as the L401. This road has everything from tight and open hairpins to reasonable straights. It's fairly well surfaced but not perfect. It also has several hazards so treat it as a scenic route rather than a racers route. By hazards, I mean fresh air drops with parapet walls to help launch you should you enter a bend too hot! Beware of mountain goats and their produce!! We had a real blast riding this and found ourselves stopping every few minutes to take in the gorgeous scenery. Every bend we went around seemed to result in an 'Oh my god, what a view' moment. We stopped for the night on this road in a Biker Friendly (aren't they all) b+b/hotel - see the red building in the pics. The b+b was 38 miles in and is right on the junction for Cambrils. This doesn't show on my Garmin Quest but believe me it is there. The people are real nice but speak little English, but if I can get by with my little Spanish then so can you. Briefly, 3 blokes, 1 room, a dip in the pool, Steak supper, 3 lagers each, OJ, Coffee, and crazy bread stuff for breakfast, all for ‚£20 each. I'm not kidding, the b+b was just 10 euros each! There is also a campsite a few yards away. In hindsight we wished we had stayed a few more night for them prices. All the locals seem to dine there in the evening which added a traditional Spanish touch. I will definitely return one day, and if you're touring the area and want somewhere good, cheap and in great surroundings, head for this place, you won't be disapointed. Like I said, a bit long winded but I thought it's best to overdo the details than not. Now enjoy the Photo's. As usual, many taken from a moving bike so not brilliant.

N230 : Benabarre - Sapeira - Bossòst

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
March 30, 2005 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

A very varied section that climbs spectacularly up a mountain, then ducks into a 5k tunnel. After that it twists and turns like crazy before some higher speed corners on the way to Benabarre. Well worth a look. Pont de Suert and the excellent N260 cross this route at about the halfway point (perhaps the best road in Spain).

N260 : Campo - Castejon de Sos ( Part of The N-260 )

Aragon > Spain > Europe
January 23, 2012 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

Would class this as 'exeptional' if it weren't for the traffic. If you can catch it on a clear day (as i have previously0 you can really get a move on. But, you need only one HGV to spoil it for you. Stunning through the gorge and partly why the N-260 is a favourite amongst us bkers. Enjoy the vids :)

Na-214 : Navascués - Burgui

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
August 21, 2011 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.7

The Na-214 (not 124 as in the vid) is only 15k long, but you can have a great time in a short distance. I missed the first few k's on the video because the camera was on pause. Luckily for me a wasp got in to my daughter's jacket, stinging her twice, and forcing her to stop. It was then that I noticed the camera. Good girl Sarah, took one for the team :) A real fun stretch of road with knee down opportunities everywhere, or take your time and enjoy the views. Great stuff :)

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
January 23, 2012 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

Nice stretch of black top which you can have great, fast fun on, but be careful as it has it's limits. Some blind bends and not the best surface in the world. Still good fun though :)

Another great Pyrenian road that's well worth a visit. Race it or cruise it, all good fun.

NA137 : Sigüés - Roncal

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
January 22, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.4

Great road leading up to the roncal pass, the roads surface is excellent low down but can be quite bad towards the top where the snow has broken up the tarmac over winter. The pass can be closed until late may so check first but it is well worht it as the road back down into france is just as good.

Real fun road to ride, some spectacular scenery but a fair bit of forest cover in places. The video is the first part traveling west to east. I have video of the rest of it but it's too shaky for my liking. Well worth planning into your trip.

D949 - Col d'Ispeguy to St Eteinne-de-Baigorry

Languedoc-Roussillon > France > Europe
August 15, 2011 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

A nice climb up out of Spain to the Col but some roadworks on the way down into France so a fair amount of gravel about. Nice cafe at the col and the views are awesome if the weather is on your side. Best for Supermotards etc but doable and enjoyable on anything with two wheels.

A479 : Talgarth - Tretower

South East Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
September 18, 2008 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.5

You need a clear run to enjoy this ride as overtaking opportunities are few at the beginning. Starts off tight but opens-up later. Tightest bends are signified by shell grip. Some of the more difficult bends have seen bikes run out of road! See ride video in the link

A4059 / Dead Sheep Mountain : Becons Reservoir - Rhigos

South East Wales > United Kingdom > Europe
December 20, 2007 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.2

A very fast and twisty 14k run. Can be combined as part of: Leave Brecon and take the A470 south towards Merthyr branching off onto the A4059 for a a very fast twisty 11 miles down into Hirwaun. From the roundabout take a left on the A465 back east to the A470 then south again past the Merthyr viaduct all the way down past Pontypridd - great chance to open up the bike for a few miles just watch out for the cameras now and then! Take the Caerphilly exit left onto the A468, up the hill (speed camera) then right onto the A469 (mountain road) for a great little blast over the mountain topbefore home - Travellers rest pub a great place to stop for a pint and some food. Follow this road down into Cardiff centre or, like me, if you live in North Cardiff take a left just before the bridge over the M4 for a drive through lisvane lanes and home!

Gi 682 : Sant Feliu - Lloret De Mar

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
March 23, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.9

Absolutely stunning piece of coast road - not a single straight section. The road twists and turns its way along the Costa Brava coast for 13 miles, and at the end you'll want to turn back and do it all over again. Loads of places to stop and take in the scenery, lovely smooth tarmac, and if you do it on a summer's evening no traffic. Bumped into another Brit biker who said it was more fun than the Nurburgring!!

One of the best roads I have ever ridden. Great road surface, great corners, no traffic at all and spectacular scenery. What else can a biker ask for?

D923 : Gavarnie - Port de Bouchero

Midi-Pyrenees > France > Europe
October 7, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

A road to ride before you die!
It goes no where - just up the mountain and stops!

However, it is one of the most exciting rides I have ever made - I touched my boots twice on a 1200GS, the second time I knew it was coming and lifted it - but it touched anyway.
Incredibly fast, incredibly twisty - there is some tourist traffic but even in mod august it was light enough to get round. The mountain was above the snow line but warm - the google map does not look right - just take the 923 from Gavarnie and ride till it stops.

Can a road have too many corners? At about halfway along this route I found myself asking this. This surely must be one of the twistiest roads in Spain (and probably Europe). The surface is good but in places, the visibility is very bad, especially at dusk, when I rode, the sun was so strong that I could hardly get a move on :-) Additionally there are a lot of blind brows and no road markings to let you know whats coming up. Still enjoyable due to the concentration of corners, but care should be taken

Can be combined with the N230 from Vielha
