Two landmark passes (Somport and Pierre St Martin) connected through Col de Labays. Magnificent views of Pic d' Anie and good ride in most parts of the route.
Climbing the hairpins with views of Kotor bay, this road leads to Lovcen National Park and a very different scenery in very few Ks.
A quite interesting section of N140 with lots of nice turns and some hairpins. Best ridden west to east.
Have you ever imagine yourself looking the earth from above like an astronaut? If yes then that's the road you have to drive. In the top of the mountain you will feel like an astronaut. PS you have to pay €5 tolls for this road
The SS552 from Ampezzo to Meduno leads through Carnic pre-Alps to Passo Rest. The road is narrow but not without interest, tarmac is new. Did it on rainy day early August and met no incoming traffic, nevertheless stay alert.
Amazing loop just over Canazei, 4 high passes here, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo and Pordoi. Full of all kinds of turns but also packed with all kinds of tourists and vehicles. Catch it early in the morning or wait till after 5pm to ride the rollercoaster. Better done clockwise.
One of the most beautiful and interesting route that I ever have been riding! Height differences and sceneries are breath taking. You have to ride slowly to be able to see everything around you.
A low traffic route along the Trentino pre-Alps. Mountainous link from Lago Caldonazzo to Rovereto. Lots of nice twists and some hairpins. Plenty of alike roads in the area to explore.
A loop over Rodopi through the famous forest. Look out for logging trucks, the driver points out with his fingers how many will follow. Some 35ks unpaved.
Awesome route up and down and around the mountain. Twisting all way on end.
Dirt road in west side of Olimpos, mostly through the forest with few openings to admire the view above high.
Route in and around Mount Ossa. A mix of paved and unpaved sections, best for dual bikes
Mix route of paved and dirt roads. Unpaved sections are easy with good surface, even a heavy sport touring could do it. Nice route through the forest.
This route still excites me twenty some years since I first did it. The road twists and twists for the whole length. Tarmac is old but the grip is good. Absence of any traffic, yet stay alerted, the one car you ‘ll meet may very well be in your side of the road. If in need, petrol may be available in Klepa village right above the dam. Best ridden from South.
Decent road surface and nice views of Feneos plain. Best ridden from west to east.
Dirt road through peaks and high pastures. Environment and views are magnificent. The road connects Agrafa village with other settlements north, and eventually Thessaly. For those interested don't wait to long cos this amazing habitat is about to face serious degradation from a wind farm development project.
Quiet road with mountain and rural views connecting Hunedoara and Alba counties.
Nice route through the Cottian Alps. The road is narrow and in some points really bad but overall ok and certainly worths a ride. Four high passes here. Sampeyre, Esischie, Vallonneto and Fauniera.
A nice loop for those roaming in the area.
Mountainous route in Peloponnese, quite interesting. No traffic at all on a week day. Look out for fallen rocks and gravel at points.
Totally worth an ascending both for the ride and the views. Many bicyclists during the "hot" months.
Nice route through massive wetlands and open country.
For those heading south from the Alps and feel like "I want some more" before the autostrada or a very nice afternoon ride for the locals.
Narrow mountain road with very low traffic, nice bends and great views.
The section from Fokiano to Kyparissi is brand new road. There is not in maps, even in google maps. Yet it is there, enjoy! Nice corners, nice views, no traffic at all on a week day. Great overall.
